Regulations of the Vichy 2024 European Triathlon Championships AGE GROUP

Please note that the running course is different from the elite course. And sprint bike course identical to the elite but to be completed only 3 times. Standard bike course different from elite and drafting prohibited (& only one loop).

For the sprint, time trial cycling prohibited. For the standard, time trial cycling authorised.

  1. Events and categories

➢ Saturday 21 September 2024:

  • A sprint distance triathlon, European age group championship:

Each triathlete completes 750 m of swimming, 20 km of cycling (3 loops) and 5 km of running (1 loop). The entire event is open to anyone born in 2008 or earlier.

➢ On Sunday 22 September 2024, a standard distance triathlon, European Age Group Championship:

Each triathlete completes 1500 m of swimming, 40 km of cycling (1 loop) and 10 km of running (2 loops). The entire event is open to anyone born in 2006 or earlier.

  • A standard distance triathlon, European Elite Championship:

Each triathlete completes a 1500 m swim, 40 km bike ride and 10 km run. The entire event is open to anyone born in 2006 or earlier.

  • a sprint distance triathlon, the European Para Triathlon Championship:

Each triathlete completes 750 m of swimming, 20 km of cycling and 5 km of running.

  1. Registration:

All competitors must complete an entry form and pay the appropriate fee through their national federation for foreign participants or on the www.fitdays.fr website for French participants.

All participants must show proof of identity when collecting their race number.

No refunds will be given in the event of non-participation. Remember to take out insurance when you register.

  1. Race procedure:

 

  • Race number collection will be from 1 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Friday for sprint participants. Please note that no exceptions will be made.

 

  • Number collection will be from 9am to 1pm and then from 6pm to 9pm for standard participants. Please note that there are no exceptions.

 

  • Entrance to the transition park will be from 4pm to 9pm on Friday 20 September for the sprint.

 

  • Entrance to the transition park will be from 7pm to 10pm on Saturday 21 September for the standard.

 

  • You will have 4 tattoos with your number, which must be affixed to your 2 calves and 2 arms.

 

  • You will also be given helmet stickers, which must be affixed before you enter the park.

 

  • You will be given a label for your bike and one for your bike bag.

 

  • In the park, the sprint pitches will be labelled blue and the standard pitches green. You will have a plastic crate and you must put all your belongings in the crate after the swim or you will be penalised.

 

  • The swimming events start from the pontoons opposite the Palais du Lac. Swim caps, provided by the organisers, must be worn by all triathlon competitors.

 

  • Start times are by age category and are given in the downloadable athlete's guide.

  • During the swim-bike transition, participants have a space reserved for them in the transition area, where they can leave their bikes, clothing and swimming accessories. This area, reserved for competitors, is closed to the public and supervised by the organiser. It will be accessible between 7 a.m. and 7.45 a.m. for the sprint on September 21 before the start. And from 11.15 a.m. to 12 noon on 22 September for the standard.

 

  • During the bike-to-run transition, participants will have a space reserved for them in the transition area to leave their running shoes and accessories. This area, reserved for competitors, is closed to the public and supervised by the organiser.

 

  • The number provided by the organiser must be worn throughout the race. It must be attached to a number belt that complies with the regulations (3 attachment points). It will be positioned on the back for the cycling section and on the front for the running section.

 

  • The bike plate supplied by the organiser must be affixed to the bike frame until the bike is removed from the transition area after the race.

 

  • The bike course for the standard distance triathlon for all age groups will be run under traffic: all participants must therefore comply strictly with the Highway Code. Drafting is prohibited.

 

  • The bike course for the sprint distance and elite standard distance triathlons will be run on a private use route. Drafting is permitted. Competitors' attention is drawn to the need for bicycles to be compliant for events of this type.
  1. Sportsmanship and respect:

Competitors undertake to treat other competitors, volunteers, referees and spectators with respect and courtesy (before, during and after the race). Everyone must show sportsmanship. Competitors must always comply with the instructions of officials (volunteers and referees).

  1. Insurance, safety and liability:

Participants are covered by their licence.

A medical service complying with World Triathlon requirements will be present throughout the events and during the course reconnaissance phases to provide first aid.

The organisers decline all responsibility in the event of an accident or failure due to poor health, failure to comply with the highway code or the instructions of the organisers.

It also declines all responsibility in the event of loss or theft of equipment.

  1. Image rights:

By registering, competitors authorise the organisers, as well as their beneficiaries such as partners and the media, to use still or audiovisual images in which they may appear. These images, taken during their participation in the triathlons, may be used in any medium, including for screenings on the day.

In accordance with the French Data Protection Act of 06 January 1978, competitors have the right to access and rectify their personal data. If they do not wish to receive offers from other companies or associations, they must inform the organiser in writing, giving their full name and address.

  1. Ranking:

The rankings are based on individual times and by age category.

  1. Sustainable development:

Participants in the events undertake to adopt an eco-responsible attitude in all circumstances.

Throwing away rubbish or abandoning objects is strictly prohibited throughout the event.

Competitors are also encouraged to limit and pool their travel.

Acceptance of these regulations implies acceptance of the sustainable development charter drawn up by the organisers.

 

An athlete's participation in the 2024 edition of the Europe Triathlon Championships de Vichy 2024 implies full acceptance of these rules.
